Touch screen Flickering

Just Installed the Clarion VX409 double din and it flickers from bright (normal) to less bright on and off every so often. Is the unit defective? I have not grounded the parking brake wire i sorta have it coming out the bottom till i figure out how im going to unlock the playback while driving feature...Could this be it? i wouldn't think so because if it was hooked up correctly then it wouldn't be grounded at all while driving (parking brake off)

If anyone has a suggestion before I go and exchange it let me know

P.s. Does anyone know how to unlock a clarion?

I had the same problem. I just installed mine and fixed it with a re-tightening of the power connections and cutting the dimmer connection. If you made the dimmer connection like I did, then that might be it. I'm still figuring out how to get the bypass working like my other Clarion but I'll have to settle for no vidoeo while driving for now, which sucks with the kids in the back

Called an installer and they said to snip the dimmer wire, works fine now. If i cant get the code from clarion for free i might buy it off that guy on ebay for $10. I dont know if he gives you a code or a disk or what. The other option is to ground the wire and put a tiny switch so it can ground and unground. You cant permanently ground the wire the unit knows your doing that and it wont display video. Right now i hook the wire around the base of my key in the ignition and the video plays. Its temp...

Also for anyone who has a zune or a ipod. You can play video and audio through the system. All you need is $10 wire.

The clarion unit doesnt have usb but it has video in with audio. The Decks with usb inputs were like double the money so i went this route.

Here is the link about the wire you need to buy

Ok, I had it connected to the ground wire with a tiny switch where my original Clarion was connected but you're saying that Clarion has that one figured out.

Can you show or provide more details on your temporary set up to get the video to play?

I wrap it around my key going into the ignition for now and it works, I watch an episode of south park to and from work hahaha. But I'm going to run the wire to a good ground and have a mini switch somewhere close to me hidden where I can ground and unground the wire at will. Theres this guy on ebay selling something to unlock the unit, but its very unspecific i dont know if he gives you a code or a dvd or instructions to do something to the back of the unit. He might give you instructions on what im telling you to do thats why im kinda skeptical about ordering his bogus product...He doesnt even say what you get! I think its a scam. So until i hear otherwise im going to just ground it with a switch.

I got my switch working. Took it to an audio shop who told me I had the right bypass already on but we just rechecked the wires and it worked. Which rocks because I've got one long *** trip to Texas coming up.

So you did the switch? or are you saying you found a complete bypass? (no need for a switch)

I got the switch working. We took a look at it and he told me that that was what they were doing with even newer models than the VX409. So we kept the switch, just tweeked the connection to the ground and the brake wires respectively and ensured they were connected.

So I need the switch and when I put a DVD or turn on the video on my iPod I get the warning screen depending on what position the switch is in. So now it works great.
