Exclamation Question about factory sub and new head unit!?!?

Well I got a new head unit put in my truck replacing the stock 6 disk changer. When I got the truck back I noticed that the sub was not producing any bass. I took it back and told the man that had installed it that the sub was not working. He said that there wasnt a hook up for a factory sub on this head unit. Was he telling the truth or was he just being lazy!?!?! Thanks in advance.
Oh and the head unit is a Kenwood KDC-MP438U

I found out the same thing when i put my Pioneer p4100 in, supposebly you have to go to ford and get the harness that has the sub hook up. Also did you notice that you could not turn the volume up to loud without the speakers sound like they were going to bust because of the small amount of base. I could barely turn mine halfway up with out it sounding like crap. And thats with the base on the lowest setting.

You just need the correct wiring harness...and you dont have to go to ford to get it. Scosche model number FDK11B, and I think metra is 70-5521. You need to hook the second smaller plug's amp turn ons to the remote wire on your deck, and then plug the RCA's into the sub output.

Yes, which is what they should have done in the first place, assuming they even used a harness and didnt hack your factory wiring.

So is this going to solve our volume problem. Or does that have nothing to do with the harness.

It should. It will turn on the stock amp for the stock speakers.

Thats because your audiophile headunit had different crossovers that were designed to go with your stock speakers, coupled with the fact that you just doubled the amount of power going to them.
