AVH-P6000DVD Ipod Adaptor install

hey guys..

Okay...I just got a Ipod adaptor for my P6000DVD double din player. I own a 2004 XL and I had it installed by a stereo shop. Now that I got the ipod adapter, these guys want to charge me $40 to install and I aint paying that...so...

anyone have a diagram of how to pop off the panel to get the deck out so that I can hook up the ipod adapter? Do I need to remove anything before I do this?

I plan on doing this soon..so pics would be great..

thanks

FYI, removing your stereo will probably void any warranty you had with that shop...

If you want to do it yourself, the panel around the radio is just held on by clips.

Also, shameless plug i know, but we only charge $20 for an Ipod cable install.

This is not just a cable though..

for the 6000DVD unit I needed to get the CD IB100II. This is another box thinga ma jiggy and that needs to be hooked up not just a plug to install in the back of the unit.

thanks for the help. I'll pay for them to install my bluetooth unit, but this is just a fuse install and plut into the unit and good to go...1 page install...lol!!!!

Yeah, I know what it is, i have the same exact one in my truck. Still just $20. Power, ground, and run your 30 pin to wherever you want to keep your ipod.

It can, however its not really practical in a truck IMO. Dont know what your year/make/model is, but on mine, the AVIC-N3 has a seperate brain module. This is installed under the pull out tray in my center console. As you know, the ipod box needs 12v and ground. These two wires are ran under the carpet to the deck. The brain box itself is installed under the cup holder part of my center console. The cupholder themselves just pull out of the console. From there, ipbus is ran to the brain. The white ipod cable is ran up into the pull out tray of the console. Took about 10 minutes to do total.

Nice!!!

I have a 2004 XL Triton....that is a good place to put the box..

Did you just tap into an existing constant 12V wire? if so, did you use one on the deck harness?

thanks...i really want to do this one myself..I still can't believe the stereo shops here freeeeekin rip you off..lol!!!!

I made all the connections when I installed the deck, so my Ipod, Deck, and truck side power are all crimped together, and my ipod, deck, and truck side ground are all crimped together.

Sundevil..

thanks for all your help bro!!! Just got through installing the Ipod and it was a breeze. I didn't even have to take out the deck. Everything was pretty much hanging, tied together in the back so I tapped into the yellow/black wires and she is good to go. I didn't know the box was small....I never went passed the instructions when I opened the box and assumed this thing was the size of a vhs box or something...lol!!!

But just as you said..I laid the box on that bottom shelf with lot's of room in the back, connected everything and wallah!!! Got the menu up and all is good now. But.....I got the IPOD wire in the glove...lol!!!

Thanks again...next up is the bluetooth adapter, but that will be done by the shop.
