Simple Question

I have an 04 SCREW Lariat, I think the sound system is pretty decent. However Fords factory head unit (6 CD changer) is really an eyesore compared to todays units. Is there a built in amplifier into the unit that goes to the door speakers? I don't want to change the head unit if I'm going to lose a lot of the quality that the current stereo is putting out. But if it's not gonna change how my speakers sound then i'm sold on a new kenwood or pioneer. thanks

Every headunit has its own amp...stock headunit amps are around 8-11 watts rms to the speakers, whereas aftermarket ones are around 18-22 watts rms.

If you're looking for sound quality, power is one key aspect of it. Aftermarket headunits not only put out more power, but also have better equalizers to enhance or diminish the treble or bass in your doors or subs (if you have any installed).
