Question Pioneer 4100 vs Eclipse 6620

I have been reading review after review on the internet about both, but can not decide. THe eclipse has nav, but i don't really need it, just an added bonus. The Pioneer looks better, IMO. But i want to hear from users of both units and installers? which would you pick if you had to do it?

thanks for you input. :santa:

IMO if you want NAV you are going to pay a little more for it. I could not find a similar priced ($400ish) double din with such a great menu and interface system. The screen is crisper and clearer than any other I have used before. The USB cord is great for my iphone and there is no need for the adapter cord unless you want to view ipod videos. I see no need for it though since you can easily burn a dvd and watch it. The screen is clean while on or off and can be set to a number of different settings. Any more questions just ask.

I really do like what i have read/ seen about the 4100 i am leaning that way, i just don't want to make the wrong decision and be stuck something that does not function well. On Amazon, the 4100 was $411.00 yesterday with free shipping, today it is $442. I will ride the amazon price wave and wait for it to come back down in price.

Have you hooked a backup camera to it? how does that look? I have a scoshe amp/sub, will i be ok to power the sub with the amp and have the head unit drive the speakers?

I dont have a back up camera sorry but you wont be disappointed if you go for the pioneer the functions on my P4000 are fast and fairly easy to navigate and are said to be better with the P4100 and on the sub being the only thing powered by the pre-amps on your headunit,
you will fine having your speakers run of the head unit and the sub off an external amp.
i have my front speakers and my sub amped and my rear speakers are run off the head unit

I do not have a back-up camera yet but I am sure it will be fine, it also has a setting in the unit to change the polarity of the backup input if you should find that is is necessary. I have used the AUX input before for a normal DVD player when I broke the internal drive. The screen quality was just as fine. I accidentally put in a wavy disc and the disc scratched the laser unit of the DVD drive and Pioneer fixed it under warranty no questions asked.

I found through the Pioneer website that only certain online businesses are authorized dealers. If you do not buy from an authorized dealer your 1 year manufactures warrant is void. Amazona and ebay are not authorized dealers, but walmart, bestbuy and Crutchfield are. They cost $100 more on all these sites though. they are all the same price at $549. I need to find a crutchfield coupon! anyone got any ideas?

I bought my 4100 from Amazon and Pioneer had no problems warrantying it. I think home stuff is authorized, so they assume the mobile stuff is too. I called Pioneer and asked.

I just got off the phone with Pioneer. They said amazon.com is absolutely not an authorized car audio dealer and they have rejected several warranty claims recently from those who have purchased from there. The Pioneer people said only the list of online dealers on their website come with warrantys that are covered by the company......

Well I guess I got lucky. Sorry for misleading then. I know they used ot be when I was looking. I did the same thing before I purchased the unit...called Pioneer and they said their own website says amazon is ok for home audio stuff so they must be authorized for mobile too. That was a paraphrase of the Pioneer guy. So I ordered it and was not worried at all when I did have to send my unit out. Like I said, maybe I was lucky but now Buyer beware of my previous post, lol.
