Looking at the Pioneer 4100 or.....

Gonna get a HU for my new truck and was searching and looking at going with the 4100. I want everything except the Navigation feature. I also notice that the bluetooth is optional. Do you need to buy a whole other piece of equipment? I looked on Crutchfield and it looked like another box. If so where does that go? Any other options or suggestions for head units?

thanks

Yeah, you need pioneers Bluetooth adapter. There is plenty of room right under the radio for it.

Thanks again SD. Another dumb question though, when you say "under the radio" do you mean it bolts up right to the HD, bolt up to the adapter bracket or just drop in under the dash behind the AC switches? I popped all that off already to throw my switches in my ashtray so I saw all that space.

thanks

Do you have the flow-through center console? If so there's room the whole way down and on the left and right sides you can use the double-sided sticky tape to stick it to a flat part of the plastic and then run the wire for the mic over to wherever you please (a-pillar has a nice spot to drop the wire down, take it up to the rearview is popular too). if you have the other dash configuration as you go down and back towards the firewall (if i remember correctly) you can get to flat spots to mount the box. the same is true for the ipod kit.

I love my 4100. Tons of room behind and below the headunit in the dash for any accessories you may need or want. I have all all sorts of stuff: Alarm accessories, strobe control unit, wiring for my 530T, USB cable and SUB output wires, video hack via relay, etc etc and tons of room for more crap that I will add eventually.

more than likely you have it. between the drivers seat and passengers seat you have the center console, shifter, and two cup holders (that's the flow-through console), the other option was the center seat with center console in the seat back and the shifter on the steering column. if you want to use the ipod controls on your HU then you need pioneer's ipod connection. otherwise you can run the aux-in cable from the back of the head unit and control your music from the ipod. for the $50 i suggest getting the connection for the ipod if you plan on using that often. i mounted the bluetooth on one side and the ipod on the other side farther down the inside of the dash, plenty of room there.
