Ipod hookup help

Hoping someone has some knowledge on this issue...

I have a 2005 with stock head unit and i purchased the PIE adaptor and cable seen here.

Got everything hooked up and it works fine but i am not happy with the cord. I have to run it out my glovebox and i want something that looks "cleaner".

So i was searching the internet and found this

It has a flush dash mounted female 3.5 jack. So i got everything hooked up and went to play a song and the volume was super low and a little distorted. I'm not sure whats going on. I know there are 3 different cords it has to play through as opposed to one with the first cable i got. Any ideas?

Make sure both connections of your aux cable were totally plugged in. Even give them a slight turn one way or another to see if that makes the connection and improves the audio.
