07 f150 OEM 6 CD loading issue

Just picked up a 07 F150 with the OEM 6 CD changer/AM/FM/MP3 player plugin in it, far as I can tell it's 100% original. Radio works fine, haven't tried the MP3 input yet, tried loading a CD yesterday (actually tried about 5 different ones, all purchased, no home burnt ones) and regardless of which of the 6 positions I try loading it into, it takes the CD in a a moment then ejects it and displays a load error message. I've checked using a light (as best I can) and don't see any old disks in the unit and nothing looks wrong from what I can see. Unit itself indicates no cd's in it. I've tried holding down the CD button (on the front of the unit) along with the eject button (which I read resets the unit) with no change in it.

I've tried searching and didn't find anything listed like this so I'm asking the question: Has anyone else experienced this? Any options to get it working or is this a 'take it to a dealership' issue? It still has factory warranty so that is an option. I don't know I'll use it that much but it would be nice to have it working correctly.

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Paul

Get it warrantied, they are crappy units from the factory and often die. Pretty common for factory units to not be all that great.

What's a CD ?

I have this tiny, cheap little thing called a flash drive, with my entire music collection of like 700 songs on it, and space for like 800 more.

Never again will I fumble with bulky, low capacity storage mediums > while I'm driving no less !

Dump that changer, and get a cheap little deck with a USB port.
Now that your changer has failed, it's the perfect time. I think you would be looking back asking > Why did I ever even care about that changer anyway < ?

Peace,
Fish

PS, As for the SQ of MP3's..... The first thing I usually here when demo'ing my system is "not" Wow this thing slams ! ....but rather, "Wow ! This thing is crystal freaking clear ! Okay, so then I crank on it even harder "and then" they say, "And loud too" !

Fixed

Well I only came up with 2 items on my list of repairs: the cd player and the drivers window switch. Took it in last wednesday and both fixed under warranty. Kind of nice to have an option other than the radio, wish it had worked when I drove it back crosscountry.

I'm good to go for now.

Good to hear it's fixed... My dad had a similar problem with his, I think he just bought a new one off of ebay, usually you can find them pretty cheap.

I swapped out the factory for an A/V/N DD HU but really do miss the 6 disc factory radio too... sounds like the next project for me... 6 disc in the center console... love the forums, always have a new way for me to spend my paycheck!!!
