stock head unit watts

Does anybody know how many watts the basic stock (single cd - non premium) head unit puts out? I have an 06 STX with the single cd head unit and I'm looking to pick up a CD-6 non-audiophile head unit to replace it with. I was just wondering how many more watts the CD-6 head unit puts out than the base single cd unit does.

I upgraded to a CD-6 head unit in my old 2000 F-150 back in 2001 and it was a nice improvement in sound.

Now if I can just find a CD-6 head unit in the classifieds. Man, they are snatched up quick!

Thanks Tim. From what I have seen so far, the basic single cd head unit is around 10 watts per channel. It looks likes the cd6 units are about 20 watts per channel.

Kind of funny. I am a Tim C. as well.

Sorry, I didn't clarify---I think it is around 12-15 per channel. Probably a tad bit less.

Unless you want the staright factory look, I would replace it with a aftermarket HU---I like Pioneer, others prefer Eclipse and Alpine. The difference in sound (also new speakers) is amazing.

Yeah, that's the issue. I want to stay with the factory look. I have already replaced the front door speakers with Infinity Reference 6x8's. That improved the sound a little but the single cd head unit that comes in the STX is just to wimpy. I installed a CD-6 in my old 2000 way back when and then put 3 ways in the front doors with an LMI seat lift and a Bass Link under the seat. That system sounded great to me as I don't listen to anything real loud. I still have the Bass Link, but I don't want to do another seat lift. My step-son is already 6'1" and can barely sit back there now. lol
