Need help installing AVH-P4000

Hey guys,
I've got one of these laying at my disposal.. Is it even possible to install it in my 02 FX4? I've heard alot of small talk about double-din units in the previous body style but I want a yes or a no. Can it be done? What am I going to need? All I have is the unit itself, no installation kit, ect. I don't want to go grinding away at A/C vents and ect. This is my new truck and it's pretty much mint with 23k miles

Thanks for all the help
-Tanner

My suggestion would be to call Crutchfield. They can tell you if it will fit, what you may need to make it fit and what parts you can buy to make the install as easy as possible like a dash mount kit and wiring harness.

Yes, it will fit. There is a special dash kit for our trucks to mount a double din, I dont know it off the top of my head but I believe Low we chime in on this.

Search the forumn for Double Din install in a 2001 to 2003. There is a few great threads with lots of pics on where you have to cut and trim to make it fit. Nothing has to be done to the AC vents, its an up and down fit issue, and I beleive all have just shaved down the top of the opening. But yes, it can be done.

eh, i wouldnt always rely on crutchfield to tell you, they are wrong sometimes about things. i would just go to a local audio shop to buy the stuff. but dont ask them if its possible to install it, cause then they will want to do the install for you, tell them you need a dash kit for a double din for your truck and they will give it to you.
just say it like you know what you're talking about

You might only be able to get that dash kit online...its usually a special order piece
