Hummm... thinking about getting this system, but I am not a fan of how much the screen sticks out of the dash. The JVC's and Kenwood's sit flush, but I'm not really a fan of either.

Bought an IVA-W505 not too long ago either, and I love it! Great head unit with tons of features. I noticed that you said that you hooked up your Slimline PS2 to it. Well I recently did that as well, but I'm having an issue. I've got the PS2 hooked up via a Radioshack 350 Watt Inverter and connected to the unit through the Auxiliary RCA's. The Playstation boots up and displays on the headunit, but white lines travel down the image the entire time and the audio has a faint static/hum to it. I check the connections on the RCA's and realized that wasn't the problem.

Just wondering if you experienced this problem and if so what you did. Any other help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Just a wild guess, but did you check the settings in the PS2 for video? It could be trying to send a signal as component (3 wires) instead of composite (1 yellow wire). Also, how close are your audio/video cables to your AC power cables? When I ran audio/video, years ago, we always kept our microphone wires running perpendicular to power wires because, if they ran nearby and parallel, they would cause noise in the line. I don't think DC is as bad, but the AC that the inverter is providing could be causing noise (faint hum).

I could be completely wrong, but it's something worth asking.

Alpine iva-w505

I had this unit installed last summer. I would do it again in a flash.

I also have the Blackbird nav unit. It's portable. Very useful.

Did yall install the steering wheel control module for this? I'm curious because I'm interested in this system but I want to retain the wheel controls by all means.

jdruzik, do you have anymore pictures of the laptop setup? Like how it mounts or a pic from the passenger side?
