4 Head Units

I am looking for a new head unit. I am leaning towards a Pioneer. I am also considering a few others. Hear is what I am thinking so far. I am just looking for a single din around $200. Hopefully some of these units are out there.

Pioneer DEH-P5000UB . I like the uncluttered look, this would be the biggest thing against the other units.

Jvc KD-PDR80

Panasonic CQ-C700U

Sony CDX-GT720

What features do you want for sub $200? Pre amp outputs? if so how many and 2v, 4v, 5v? Future upgrades? Screen color mater to you? Remote? Screen button layout? Aux in? USB in?

This is the newer version of the HU I have...I would strongly recommend it. I dunno why but not a whole tone of people seem to be crazy about Kenwood but I have installed about a dozen and never had any problems. I would stay away from sony.

At the very least I will be adding 2-10" subs to the system and possibly and amp for the speakers. Rear USB and aux would be better for an Ipod to keep stuff from haning off the front. I do have a Sportster 4 right now and this is what I primarily listen to.

I have always liked Pioneer---I have the 4800---which now, I believe, is the 5000---and it works great---some say it is too complicated, but it does have some very nice features.

I also have a pioneer, i have had the 7000, and i have the 8000 now, i like them both. I have installed the 5000 in tons of cars, great unit, the usb interface is awesome and the bright blue 2 line display is nice too. I would go with the 5000 out of those personally, its a very simple unit.

1) Pioneer
2) JVC
3) Sony
4) Panasonic

That would be the order, I would go in. I have used each radio extensively and in almost any situation.

My wife bought me the Pioneer for Christmas. No case for the face plate though. Is this the way they are or is it missing from the box?

Nope---for some reason they don't include them anymore.

I would get the 500 model of the Pioneer. Most of the models 5000, 6000 etc. also come in a Premier model 500, 600 etc. They are usually only a few dollars more around here.

The premier's have a longer warranty, come with all the cables, usually have higher voltage pre-outs and come with the face case.

The pre-out voltage is the same. And some models do not include the case.
