Head Unit 2004
HI My son has a 2004 f150 XLT we been looking to get a new head unit been looking at all the top brands alpine, pioneer. Ect. After looking at crutchfield and talking to a rep he was saying that units that use a fold down face to get to the cd player will not work. Question is this true?? would i have to go to a DD? Here's a link to a few we have been looking at maybe this way you all will have a better idea and can give me a more informed answer.

Not true. Although the factory is DD, you can still go with the players you linked. You'll have to buy the "finishing" kit to cover up the space left over.
Recommendation: Get a different salesperson, because the first one is obviously trying to sell you something you don't want. Expand your search beyond Crutchfield, even though they're a great site, you can often find better prices. Good luck.

Welll i found the problem that crutchfields was talking about . the problem is the finish kit that they provide the trim plate is a tad to tight for the face to flip down. that is why they say it won't work.Getting a different trim kit it all worked out good and looks pretty nice went with the alpine unit.now ot look for some speakers to replace the factory ones with spends a ton of cash was looking to get a 6x8 3way to replace all 4 .
