I replaced my Alpine HU with a Model: DEH-P7000BT pioneer a few months ago and I get some wicked noise out of it.

When I first installed it I got some major turn on thump. So I googled and someone said to solder the (-)'s on the RCA's together. That helped a lot.

But I still get alternator noise.

I didn't have any with my alpine. It's not the wire going to the amps or the RCA's.

I used a jumper and ran a wire outside of the cab from the Batt(+) to the Yellow(always hot) wire on the pioneer and that seems to get rid of most of the noise.

Anyone else have problems with Pioneer Head units being Noisy? Or the stock power wire to the head unit?

 

Are your speakers connected to an amp and not directly to the head unit? You mentioned the RCA's and was just wondering. I have had problems like that but only with my subwoofer before and used a ground loop isolator to fix it. But it sounds like it needs a better ground.

 

All speakers are connected to an amp. The 4 door speakers to a RF 500x4 punch, the 2 10s connected to a RF 500x1 power.

It's not a grounding issue. I used some jumpers to bypass the ground directly to the battery to eliminate that possibility. I also did the same with the head unit. the noise was still there.

It seems that for some reason the Pioneer head unit is getting noise from the stock Batt(+) wire. Even though my Alpine sounded clean. When I jumped a new wire to the Yellow wire on the head unit....almost all of the noise went away.

I think pioneer may just have poor noise canceling circuitry or something.

I was kind of just wondering if anyone else had problems like this with Pioneer.

 

I have not had any noise issues with my Pioneer Avic D3. I however did run larger speaker wire to each of the speakers. I have the audiophile setup in my truck right now. I am looking at going with different components pretty soon. Sorry I can't help you out more. Unless are your Wires running close to a power wire that would create an electrical field around the wire and cause interference?

 

I just ordered a USB auxiliary adaper box for the Pioneer head unit. I think when I install that I will just run a new power wire to the head unit thru a fuse.

Is the deck still under warranty? I have owned 3 different pioneer decks and I have never had that issue. Maybe it is something with the deck itself, but I could have just been lucky.

 

Do you have your ground wire away from any (+) source wire? And bolted to a frame somewhere? Like 05_sprcrw said, it could be a field around the wire. Grounding is better done if you can get a clean metal surface rather than the battery ground. It's good to find a spot to use that doesn't already have a ground connected to it. My amp's ground wire is bolted to the frame of my rear seat.

 

Ya it's grounded under the seat. Like I said though I re-ran the gorund wire and the noise didn't change. It's not the ground.

It's the wire going to the head unit that is always hot.

It's just that along with the RCA (-)'s having to be grounded and this other noise problem I was just curious about others with Pioneers.

I'll update after I re-run that wire and let you know how it turns out.

Edit: I even hooked my IPOD up straight to the amps and I didn't get any noise so that's another reason I know it's the head unit making the noise.

Hmmmm, I wonder if it has something to do with the RCA(-)'s being connected together if it has something to do with it. I have never herd of that before, again probably because I have not had this problem. It sounds like there is being a field created somewhere back there messing things up for you. But I am no expert maybe we can get some of those audio guru's in here to help ya out.

 

I am experiencing the same problem. Did you ever find a solution? The weird thing is the the unit I replaced this one with was a Pioneer DEH-P6900UB and I had no noise at all. It makes me think there is something wrong with the new unit because I have never experienced this amount of noise from a car stereo in my 25+ years of experience with automotive sound. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I saw somewhere on caraudio.com where someone said that their Pioneer HU was making that noise also. Not sure what model the guy had though. I think the solution was to ground the RCA (-)'s, but you already tried that. I also read something about a "pico fuse" being part of the problem. If all else fails you might try the UB models because I haven't heard any noise complaints on those. Good luck!
