Head units??

I have a double din stock radio that I like but wiring an amp to it is not an easy project, has some one done this?
Or I could put an after market unit in its place
what is a good unit? I have not played with radios in 10 years.

I was running the factory head unit with a line out converter to my amp/subs/door speakers. I wanted a way to hook up my ipod, so I just put in a JVC head unit with ipod interface. Can't remember which model it is, but I got it at Circuit City for $129. Let me tell you, the sound is amazing compared to the factory unit. Adding the cost of a dash kit, and wiring harness, and Sales tax, it was under $200. The best part is, the dash kit I bought has the open slot below the radio, so I drilled a hole in it and fed the ipod cable through it, so my ipod is right under my HU, in the little storage area, with no wires hanging around!
