back up camera install Question

I pick up a back up camera I take it that the power lead from the cam taps in to a reverse light power wire and just ground the black so it only comes on when in reverse am I right? What do I do with the wire coming of the HU marked reverse is this a sensing wire so it will go into that mode when in reverse do I tap this in the reverse power line as well the HU is a Jensen vm9022 thanks

Take a breath!

The power and ground wire need to be tapped into an ignition switched power source. The wire from the HU marked reverse gets tapped into the reverse light wire, this lets the HU know your in reverse and it will automatically switch to the backup cam.

Yes it will be on all the time, and what is wrong with that. If you power it to the reverse light you will only be able to use it while in reverse. If that is how you want it wired go for it.

No I dont. I always run the wire to the tail lights since you have to run wire back there anyways for the camera. I will tell you, there will be some times you wish you could turn your camera on without being in reverse.
