There is a part you have to buy from ford. I saw one on E-bay the other day. I think it is called a PIE auxilry input.

The short answer is that your 06 does not have an aux input. That option was not available until the 2007 model. As Ftruck stated above, there are aftermarket solutions available.

Me-thinks Justi is confused as the AUX input was available many years before the 2007 model was introduced! The AUX input is on "Premium" head units for use with the OEM DVD system. If you don't have a DVD system, you can buy an FRD04-AUX to simulate the CANbus and connect it to your ipod. The adapter costs about $40 on ebay or any major stereo outlet.

You mean "premium" head units and OEM DVD's pre 07? Because my 07 has the 6 disc, non dvd with the aux jack.

The aux in 1/8" mini-jack in the dash tray was not available prior to the 2007 models. That I can tell you for sure. If previously (as in before 2004) they had them in the radio I cannot speak to that. The OP asked where to plug his iPod in and assumed because there is an AUX button that there was such a place.

The FRD04-AUX that you referenced above accomplishes the same function as the PIE adapter, and qualifies as an aftermarket solution. But certainly a viable option and will function as the OP would like.

Yes. You have to pop the dash trim off, unhook the passanger seat airbag light, and then remove 4 screws that hold the factory deck in. Once that is done you can gently slide the head unit out and plug in the adapter. If it needs a power and ground you will have to hook those up but with a few wire taps that too is very easy. Then simply route your iPod cable and put everything back together. Other than a 7mm socket and perhaps two wire taps nothing else should be needed. Good luck!
