How to remove radio in 2004? (Newbie)

I just bought the truck and really like it. It's an '04 F150 FX4. I would like to swap the factory single disc HU with a CD6 I obtained (removed from an '04 F150).

How do you remove the dash trim around the radio in order to access the bolts that secure the radio?

Any other tips would be appreciated. Thanks!

If its anything like the 2005, all you have to do is take a flat head screw driver and pry it off.

Open your ash trey door, then grab the panel and pull it off- gently from bottom to top..

04 doesn't have an ash tray door, does it ?

Well I just did mine (installed new stereo). In my 04, I used a thin plastic spoon type tool to pry it off. Its held in place by little clips (very stiff and hard to remove, just becareful and ya should be fine) and the cig lighter. Cig lighter surround pops off, unplug the 12v outlet and you can take the radio "frame" off. Then use a small 9/32 socket and you'll be golden.

my '04 with flow thru has the ash tray. No screwdriver needed, start at one corner, pull - other corner, pull.

Repeat til all 6 clips are released.

DIsconnect top airbag wire.

Remove radio - held in with 4 7mm bolts
