Talking Got my first truck!! Want to install a stereo :)

Hello everyone, My name is Aaron and I just got my first Ford F-150

I would love to install an aftermarket stereo in it so i need to know a few things:
A: which dash kit do i need?
B: which wiring harness do i need?
C: and how do i remove the plastic covering to remove the stock stereo?

I own a 2003 Ford F-150 Lariat SuperCrew with a V8 engine... yeah its a gas guzzler but I LOVE the sound of my dual exhaust

I love the forum, and everyone seems like a cool group of Ford loving people

Thanks and i hope u guys can help me out with providing some links to the items listed above... much appreciated!!

I would look at crutchfield... yeah they are a little more expensive than other places but they will make sure you have everything and customer service is second to none.

You should be able to buy the ford harness at bestbuy or any mobile audion shop. As well as a dash kit. The plastic around the radio simply pulls straight off. Just grab and pull. Hope that helps some. Justin

I'd still suggest Cruthfield like the poster above...

You get everything you need to do the install in one box, and their customer service is extremely good.

I will 3rd the Crutchfield---I have also found that by the time you get the harnesses and the dash kit, Crutchfield is actually a little cheaper than Boostbuy or CircleCity. I prefer Pioneers, some like Alpines, some Kenwood. that part is up to you. Look at your budget and go out and listen to the HU's and the speakers---then order them from Crutchfield. That way you can tailor your system to you listening needs.

No problem...I try to help as much as I can...

Just to let you know, the auctions I posted above are for Scosche products. I have used Scosche products before and was very pleased with them..

Just FYI, i dont know if Metra makes a dash kit for the 2003 trucks, but my Scosche kit in my 2004 fell apart 3 months after i installed it. The Metra kit is MUCH better quality.
