Amp install question

I asked this in the amp section but got no response so I figured I'd try here.

Is it possible to install an amp for your door speakers and a sub amp to a factory headunit. My truck has the audiophile system if it matters. Is there a seperate "output" from the factory radio for the sub? If it is possible what is needed to do it. I looked at the JL Cleensweep but it looks like it only has front and rear output and nothing for a sub.

You can always use an amp with a high level input and crossover and run it off your rear speakers...

ie. you'll add a wire from your rear speakers to the input on your amp. The amp will amplify the low end and play it through your sub. Won't sound as clean as using a regular low level input like a dedicated sub out but it will work.

I'm pretty sure the audiophile system does not have an amp built into the head unit. It might be possible to buy an adaptor an get a pre-amp output from the headunit. Check pac-audio.com to see if they have such an adaptor.

There is such an adapter made. I have one in my truck. It basically takes the signal from your back speakers and has the output you need.

To my ears, it sounds good. It's a lot cleaner bass than a lot of what I've heard off of 1000$ radios and more expensive subs.

I have searched but everything is so scattered it takes forever to find things because the search feature dosn't allow you to narrow down your results. I figured that it would be easier to ask and if someone knew the answer then it would be simple.

And I believe my question had to do with the factory HEAD UNIT and this is the HEAD UNIT section so forgive me. Stupid me for thinking the HEAD UNIT section included factory HEAD UNITs.

Thanks for your positive contribution.

It's an amp and headunit question so it fits in both.
