Newer sound system in older truck?

I own (am about to own, actually) a 1999 F150 XLT with the stock am/fm/cassette sound system. I've seen a number of pulls from 2006/2007 F150s out there at what look like pretty reasonable prices. Are these electrically and mechanically compatible? Any cutting and/or rewiring required? Or is it a completely lost cause? If this won't work, what vintage equipment should I limit myself to while shopping?

Still possible.... For ease I would buy a old F150 harness and a new reverse harness... Wire them up. Its probably possible. that would be new and different. TRY IT

They are different. The 97-03 body is an oversize Din. And the 04+ are Double Din. Now its possible but will take the same modifications that it takes to put an aftm DD in there.

Love the idea. BEHIND you all the way!!! Metra Kit 95-5026
