Amp / Head Woes

Gents

My amp decided to go into protect mode, and upon inspection I found the RCA Cable to be the culprit. I am assuming that the wire somewhere is grounding out on metal - but the wires are all under floorboards etc, previous owner had a pro do it looks like. I want to plug a spare RCA up to see if that is the case - but im not sure how to get off the part of the dash keeping me from the head unit. Im pretty sure there are clips, but i dont wanna mongo the thing and crack it. Any suggestions? It is a 2000. Thanks.

Most amps go into protect mode right away. If that's the case ,why don't you just unplug your rca's and turn it on? Grounding RCA's in my experience doesn't put an amp into protect...

Do you have your stock stereo?? The only way I could think that your RCA's would cause it to go to protect is if the rca came loose behind the stereo and the middle pin is touching ground...I'm sure theres other ways but I'm dead tired...I'm at my second job for the day...
n e wayz if its stock your gonna wanna get some ford removal keys...but I'm assuming it's not so u got 2 ways, get some radio removal keys...which I doubt u have being the 2nd owner, so you can take off the whole oval piece that goes around the stereo and heating/ac controls, just pry it off and it reveals you dash kit that either should be with two 8 mm or 7 mm....or just clips

Also, I think a grounded speaker wire might cause it to go into protect mode. Might want to check if there is a pinched speaker wire somewhere.
