04 head unit problem

I recently bought an 04 Supercrew with premium sound. The radio worked, but the changer said that the slots were full and had an eject error. It also made clicking noises like it was trying to load a disk. The dealership sent that unit back and sent me another unit which, after I installed it, says the same thing. (slots full, eject error, but no clicking noises)
I took it apart and the cd unit itself is only about 2 inches in height. Is this the normal height for a 6 disk or did I get hosed?

Any help would be appreciated on the errors and what the unit should look like.

I've seen that problem before with some customers of mine, however I've never seen a fix for it other than replacing the unit with an aftermarket one, there might be something you can do I'm sure some1 will chime in if there is...
But I don't think you got jipped, that 2" piece I believe moves up and down to where the slot is to allow the cds to load/eject, If the cd unit was as large as the shell there would have to be multiple slots for the cds to load/eject, but then again I'm assuming, not 100% sure if that is in fact how the cd tray works

The 6CD unit is a full Double-Din sized unit, about 4 inches tall from front to back. Late model 6 CD units will have "CD-6" written on top of the disc slot. And/Or it will have "MP3" under the disc slot if it's an MP3 unit. Early 2004 HU's were not marked.

Many of the single CD units have a Double-Din faceplate but are only 2 inches high in the rear. It will not have any markings around the disc slot.

What part number is on the unit?

Premium 6 CD: 4L3T-18C815-AL

You may have received a newer model unit for a replacement. Part number would help determining what it is.

The whole unit itself is about 6 inches tall, but when I pulled the cd part out, it is only about 2 inches tall. I think the original said cd-6, but the unit they sent back does not. I haven't had a radio for two weeks, so I put it back in until they send me a new one, put I'll take it out and check the part number and post it.

Thanks for everybodys help.

Okay, I received a new head unit from the dealership and it is displaying the same error codes as the one I just took out. (cd error, eject error, slots full) Is it safe to assume that the problem is somewhere in the wiring, and if so, what do I need to do to get this thing working?

The part number on the side of the head unit is 4LST-18C815-EP.

Thanks for the help.
