ditto on the uniden 78, its sweet, and the mic gain leave it at full gain until someone tells you your squealin. i know the cost is more but i would have a to recamend something like a single wilson magnet mount any day over a set of fiberglass whips, or whip. also for the plain fact that my wilson can handle up to 3000 watts if i choose to amp my box anytime. and if u dont want something as big as my 1000 get the 500 or the lil wil both are great and should outperform the 'glass whips. just my opinion though

theres some good info on 'glass whips, scroll down to number 7 where it talks about spacing. lots of great info on wilsons site read up and you can learn alot on whats good, find a good cb forum and as to changing the mic, most would be fine with the stock mic, just dont go on others opinions of mics, your buddy may sound great on one but u will sound terrible on it, funny how it works. any questions just ask,
Scott

an amp makes a large difference, i would love to get one for mine but i havnt yet. ive gotten 10+ with no amp though with my 1000. nothing wrong with fiberglass at all, ive just found magnets (good quality ones) to be more efficient. but that also comes at a higher price. what brand amp are u runnin? i still really wanna get one. how far have u gotten out when the skips rollin good?
