Alpine PXA-H701
Alpine PXA-H701
This question is directed to those that have or had a Alpine PXA-H701.
I just upgraded my CDA9831 to a iDA-X001, and the iDA-X001 sounds really flat due to it's lack of equalization not being built into the unit. So with that said, is the PXA-H701 worthing getting. Thanks in advance

I have the IVA-W200, and it has no EQ capability either. Not liking the sound, I purchased the PXA-H701.
While it is not cheap, it DOES improve the sound dramatically.
As far as it being "worthless", it does have an available external controller to let it work with any stereo with RCA outputs...
Just thought I would share...

What exactly do you want to know ? It has a bunch of features: 3 optical inputs, AI-Net, Navigation system input, microphone input, time correction, bass compression, Media Expander, Dolby Digital, Dolby Pro Logic II, DTS, etc.
Graphic EQ - Front, Rear and Center channels have 31 bands; Subwoofer has 10 bands.
Parametric EQ - Front, Rear and Center channels have 5 bands; Subwoofer has 2 bands. Each Front, Rear and Center channel band has 29 center frequency choices; the subwoofer bands have 13 each.
High and Low Pass filters - Cutoff frequency range adjustable in 1/6 octave steps, with slope adjustments at 6, 12, 18, 24 and 30 db/octave.
If you buy the control unit for the PXA-701, you can plug the microphone (included with the control unit) into the 701 and tell it to set-up yout time correction automatically... Pretty cool, I think.
Hope this helps a little...

B-man, Yes i did read in my manual that you can call up the preset memory of an external audio processor, but that is soo darn vague. A simple yes or no in the manual would suffice. I would really like to see if I could control it from my new HU, as the only reason that I bought it was because I upgraded to Itunes v7 and my CDA-9831(circa 2004) no longer can identify when my ipod is connected. Im kinda miffed about what alpine has done with their product line in recent years. They did good by building in the iPersonalize which would allow you some sound customization, but they should keep it on all units. I think Im going to return this and look for something that will play my digitally stored music a bit better.
