Probably a stupid question but.........
I am a rookie at car audio, I have replaced HU and upgraded speakers in previous vehicles but this will be my first time using an amp, sub, deadeding, etc. I do consider myself a home audio/vidoe pro but this is a whole new ball game.
Now to my question, one of many:
When I put in the new HU and set up the amp, sub, etc. what happens to the factory wiring? I will be running the speaker, sub, and power wires from the amp so what about the factory wiring harness? I was just going to tape off the end of the wires at the speakers just in case I sell/trade in my truck down the line and want to put stock back in but then I thought, what about the other end of the wires that go into the harness and the HU????? Am I missing something? I will be running RCA cables from the HU to the amp so I'm confused about the old wires as you can tell.:o

So I'll just cap off the ones you said in the PM and I'm good to go? Sweet, I will be a busy boy this weekend. I got my edead today, now just waiting for amp kit. I may just do the deadening this weekend unless I get lucky with shipping.

I popped the panel off my door the other day to see how difficult it would be to run the new speaker wires. Shouldn't be too hard, but than I realized I was also goign to be sealing off all the holes in my door panel than apply damp/overkill on top of it.
Going to seal off the doors with a bit of mdf board + silicone (in case I ever have to go back in there I can just scrape it off) Helps out your midbass!
So it would be a little difficult to run wires when you can't get your hand into the door at all!

gotcha, thanks for the explanation
OK looks like I am finally ready to do this project, I have deadened most of what I am going to deaden and now on to the fun stuff. Back to the thread question, what if I wired up the whole harness would that cause prblems if some of the wires were just taped off at the other end?
