Help with install

I have a pioneer avh-p6600. I know your not supposed to view videos while driving but I want to anyways. So I have this light green wire for the DVD video that is supposed to go to the parking brake hot wire to sense the parking brake being off or on. Well I connected the light green to yellow battery wire where power is always supplied. By doing this I figured the stereo will sense the parking brake is always on but I am getting the warning on my screen that says that I am not allowed videos while driving. Now I get audio all the way up to menu part. Is there something I am missing here? Is there something else I should do?

I don't know anything about that particular head unit, but I would guess that the lead needs to cycle on/off to reset the unit's logic. When connected to the memory lead, it is always on. If the head unit has a power lead for powering an aux. amp. or power antenna, use that lead. Otherwise, use a lead controlled by the accessory side of your electrical system (only on when the key is on).

Use one of the wires off the cigarette lighter plug. There are 3 total wires there. One ground one for the heating element and another that I think is for the backlighting. That's where I connected my safety wire and it worked fine. At night with your headlights on you'll have to adjust the dash dimmer down to allow the unit to come on.
