Iva-w200

Well what to do? I currently have the Ford 6 disc radio with a sub in the rear. I am looking into buying the Alpine IVA-W200 and having it hooked up to the original sub. Should I or not? What do you guys think...

The IVA W200 is an awesome HU. I have had it since last Sept and love it. It has many features including the ipod capability (which is the main reason for purchase). I have upgraded my speakers and sub since then, but it sounds really good with the factory sub. DVD player shows really clear also and steering wheel controls can be kept intact (with optional hardware). You'll think it's worth it...I did!

PS: Alpine is coming out with another awesome HU in a couple of months that is exactly like the W200, but the screen flips down and you can actually dock the Alpine Blackbird (navigation unit) inside it.

I've researched these things for like 6 months and I would agree. Definitely something I would do. I am either going with this one of the Eclipse 6600. There are good reasons to go either way. They are both bad ***.

I have the W200 as well. Love it. I have the H701 processor with mine and have a full 5.1 setup. Awesome unit. Lots of system control. The new W205 will probably be even better but, be advised that the new Blackbird dock is for the new Blackbird unit, not the original one. Would have been nice to use my original on a new W205.

I'm looking to upgrade my HU to a 2-din multimedia unit. Does the W200 have a removable face? I have to park outside in the driveway so a removable faceplate would be a big plus.

I don't think they make a DD HU with a removable face plate.

Looks like the JVC AVX706 DVD/CD Receiver has a slide-out faceplate. Just curious if some of the higher end units do as well.

Ahh...I love having a 4 car garage,

If you park outside I suggest tining your front side windows, and getting a sun shade for the dash. This should make it VEYR dark and likely impossible to see inside the cab...ESPECIALLY at night.

unless they have a flashlight.

As soon as my Cobra is gone I am gonna make an attempt at squeezing my truck in the garage...

The problem with my garage is it isn't long enough. I can't put down the garage door with my truck inside. Of course, my wife's SUV fits but just barely.

I guess I need to buy a house with a longer garage.

I was thinking about the w200, but the non detaching face was a showstopper for me. I occasionally leave the truck at a park-n-ride bus stop and my car has been ripped to pieces three times there. Yeah, yeah quit parking there...it's twice as convenient and cheaper than the alternatives. The car now has no system, but I'm only in it 10 minutes a day. If I can piece together a dummy faceplate from a junk OEM radio, I'll do it, but the last dummy plate I made took awhile and I had to recess mount the radio which wasn't great looking.

My buddy has the Alpine unit and it's pretty cool. I recently purchased the Kenwood DDX-6019 unit. Got it with the Bluetooth adapter and the iPod adapter from Travis at www.kcautosound.com Pushes my system nicely and with the PAC SWI-ALP adapter my steering wheel controls work.

He just took multiple photos of the unit on his site HERE
