Looking for Audiophile HU!!

Does anyone have an Audiophile 6disc mp3 HU they want to sell? I have a 2004 Fx4 supercab with just a 6disc HU. I would like to keep stock look. I would also like to add audiophile sub and speakers. Thanks

To be honest, i felt the same way - better off getting something MUCH better than the stock system. I got the Eclipse 5435 NAV. What an awesome unit

except the stock unit is a 6 disc. As far as I can tell there is no after market in dash multi disk. That is worth every thing right there to me. Plus the audiophile sounds great.

The only aftermarket multi-disk HU that I know if is the Pioneer AVH-P6800DVD. But it's pretty pricey, especially for a non-navigation unit.

I was in your situation a few months back, wanting to upgrade from my factory 6-disk to the Audiophile 6-disk and add the audiophile sub. But before I sprang the money for the units, I first went down to my local Ford dealer. I found a Lariat that had the audiophile, and I test drove it. I just "happened" to bring one of my favorite CD's with me. Anyway, I put the system to the test. I think the poor salesman's ears were ringing by the time the testdrive was over. I was moderately impressed. I felt it was above-average for a factory system, but nothing to write home about.

I then went down to one of the most reputable car audiophile (NOT boom) shops in So Cal (the name is Audio Shoppe in Riverside, awesome place). I sat in the owner's F150. He had a Pioneer Nav unit, 2 8" subs, and 3-way Morels (probably a $5000 setup). I was completely blown away. He assured me that he could get me pretty close to that sound for around $1300 with the proper setup. I went with a system that consists of an Eclipse CD5000 HU, DLS 6.5 components up front, 2 RE8 subwoofers in a really well-built enclosure, an Eclipse amp to power the front stage (150w X2), and an Alpine amp for the subs.

At first, I was a little apprehensive because I wanted to keep the stock look (I've never had an aftermaket stereo before). But after I saw the Eclipse HU installed in my truck, I fell in love with it. It blends in extremely well. And the sound, well, just blows away the factory audiophile system.

I agree with bamorris2. I have an 04 F150 with the audiophile stereo. I think it sounds great for a factory system but there is no way I would pay to have it put in after the fact. I would recommend going aftermarket. I have even considered upgrading my system but I keep spending my money on performance stuff! I think in the long run you will be happier with an aftermarket system compared to the audiophile. My two cents worth.
