Video HU for best sound?

Looking to replace my HU, and I figure since I have 2din I might as well use it for some video...but I don't want to sacrifice sound quality, and don't need a gazillion features. I'd rather have it do a couple things extremely well, rather than a lot of things halfassed.

Also, not sure I'm sold on touchscreen. From what I can tell, the quality of video suffers due to the 'tougher' nature of the screen necessary. Any input regarding the difference in screen/video display quality of touch vs. non would be appreciated. I know I'll end up more dependent upon the remote if I give up touch screen, but I think I can live with it.

Considering the JVC KW-AVX706 given the factors I've mentioned thus far....

Above all, it needs to sound great. Been away from high end car audio for a while, and decided that I'm going to put some decent jams in this truck...so whatever HU I end up with has to feed hi-qual sound to the Audison or whatever amp I finally settle on, to feed the CDT speakers I'm leaning towards.....

Thanks in advance for any input guys!

Going to be hard to beat the Alpine IVA-W200 and then couple it with the H701. For sound quality, it does not get much better. You can run optical from the head unit to the processor for dvd/cd sound.

hmm that brings up a question. Do the alpines have optical inputs on their new line of amps? That would be pretty cool to have a single tiny optical line running from the headunit to the processor to the amps. I imagine the SQ would be awesome.

I like the touch screen on my Kenwood and it's visually fantastic. For comparision I've got a high end Lilliput VGA touchscreen that I intended to use for a Carputer but plans changed. They looks damn near identical in visual quality. When I use the Lilliput on my PC it stands just a bit lower in VQ than my desktop monitor. One thing I really like about touch screens is that the headunit and remotes don't have to be saturated with buttons. I can't really comment on standard screens but my thoughts are just don't let the touchscreen models put you off, there are really good ones.

SQ wise I haven't heard anything better than my Kenwood course I haven't heard d's alpine either.

I really do not think you will hear much difference in sq in todays brand name units. I had a Kenwood DDX7015 with their surround processor before I got the Alpine and it was just as good. Stick with a good quality brand and I do not think you would be disappointed.

Best picture quality I have seen is the older Eclipse AV-8132 and AV-8022. I still have not seen a better picture in the car. I had both of those units and the newer Eclipse units and the older ones were better. I think the Alpine IVA-D310 single din has a slightly better picture than my W200. And I guess the D900 is suppose to be the best picture. Although they seem to be getting better and better every year.
