Alpine Questions

Hey, I'm running a cda 9853 unit (slidebar) with the alpine ipod quick connect (420i), and am getting Sirius over the holiday- i remember reading at some point within the past two years that there were problems because the ipod connect uses the same port as satellite needs? it was resolved somehow, and you can have both, but can't remember the solution-
sooo if y'all can help me out, I'd love to hear it... i'd like to avert the problem rather than get screwed out of my satellite for a week for parts etc...

Yep i had that same HU about 1.5yrs ago.. I hated the glidebar when trying to search for artists.. So i had to get a new model alpine without the glidebar. (so much better)..

But anyways. Yep, they both connect though the AI-NET cable that connects to the back of your HU.

You just have to wire them in a series.. The Sirius Module Box has an Input and Output connection on it. So run that AI-NET cable from the IPOD Module into the Sirius Module, then going from the OUT on the sirius module to the back on the HU.

Sorry if thats confusing.. But yes they will both work together.

This might be a little better..

See how it has two connections? The IPOD module just daisy Chains though this module.

Yep i hear ya, I hated the 9853 i had..

I upgraded and got the 9857 and it controls the ipod SOO much better. Plus the Biolite display so much nicer.. I skimped out the first time to try to save some money by getting the 53 instead of 55.. But after having the 57, man that display is worth the extra $

You can see the Artist/Song/Album all on the same screen. And you can scroll though the artists, ect. and have 3 lines of display so it makes it much easier.

Plus no more finiky glidebar.
