anybody get the stock 6 cd to work with...

an aftermarket head unit? i emailed crutchfield and they said that there is no head unit on the market that will work with the stock 6 cd changer (one seperate from the HU). so i was thinking about getting the cord that works with my new head unit (is able to control a cd changer) and splicing it into the old harness for the factory 6 cd. if i new what wires to hook up, would this work?

You want to add a head unit in the ashtray or other location to play mp3's etc while keeping the OEM 6 disc player intact and working, correct? I have seen someone here do that but I can't recall who.

i went and bought a sony head unit. it can control a cd changer. it is now installed in my truck, in the stock location.

my truck came with the factory 6 cd changer.

is there anyway that i can splice into the harness to get the stock cd changer to work with my aftermarket head unit?

there are no aftermarket head units that will work with a stock cd changer.

Though i can't help you I can clear up some confusion. He has the old body style in which the cd changer was separate from the actual head unit. So he is trying to retain the factory changer and use a better hu.
Anyways good luck in trying to figure something out.
