Post TSB on 6 Disc Head Unit

I took my KR Screw to the dealer and he showed me a TSB on the 6 Disc Head Unit. The CD was having a problem. Not sure of which specific model numbers are affected but I do know the 2006 Screw is one of them. The TSB said to replace the unit. If you are having a problem and it is still under warranty it might be worth a shot.

Smile Head Unit TSB

Just picked up my 06 KR Screw with the new 6 disc installed. They replaced the original one because it had CD error and would not load CD;s. This was covered under warranty. I looked again at the service writers notes and there is a TSB out on the 6 disc head unit. Hope it helps.

There is no TSB # listed. It only says to replace under warranty. The notes I looked at were on a scrap piece of paper that was attached to my file. If I had a problem and the vehicle was out of warranty I would ask the service writer to look up the TSB. When my writer looked it up, it indicated on the computer screen, , that there was a problem and replacement was the only fix. I called Technicar to see if they knew of a TSB # they said no but they were replacing a large number of these head units. There seems to be a large number of the 6L3T18C815-FE (Part Number) that were having problems. It took three weeks to get my new unit due to backorders. The supplier had been overwhelmed. Hope this helps.

Mine worked great until a little while ago it started spitting out discs. The error code was bad disc. The other problem was the reception on the radio started to suck. I told my dealer about it and they ordered me a new one and replaced it under warranty. The reception on the new one sucks to. It was fine when I bought my truck new. What happened. I have the 6 disc audiophile. Is there something I can do to help the reception?
