Unhappy Alpine 9856

Ok, last night on my way home, my pos JVC decided it was weary of playing cd's after 4 years, and decided to not give the one in there back. So, i am going to replace him with an Alpine. I have been looking at the 9856. Anyone have any input as far as easy to use, simple, loud, clear, anything to chime in on the unit?

Just in case buying a new battery the other night was not enough...

BTW, my stereo stuff is listed in my sig....not a whole lot, but it's loud enough for me..

9856 is a great basic unit. 3pr RCA, high speed iPod interface, opt remote, Ai-Net so you can add changer, XM, Sirius, bluetooth, HD Radio, etc. Display is weak but otherwise it is a solid deck. 9857 adds remote and Biolite multi line display.

I have the 9856 and I LOVE it! It's a great sounding head unit and after a few minuets with the manual it is a breeze to use. Your set-up is similar to mine with the 300 watt alpine amp and 10" sub. Mine sounds great! And if you have an iPod then there is no better head unit. Here's a couple of pictures of mine.

That appears to be the Metra kit, ISO mounted... The Scosche kit is a little more square-cornered.

It's the one that Crutchfield sends you. It was a little bit of work getting to mount flush. You have to remove the metal sleeve that comes from the factory around the HU and then use the side brackets to mount it.

Im really pissed Alpine dropped the time correction feature on most of their decks. This made a huge improvment in the soundstage. Especially in these trucks.
