Second plug on factory unit?

What is the other plug for on the rear of the factory 05 6 disc?

It has about 5 wires in it.

Im not sure what it does, but on my 2000, when I replaced the Head Unit, I used the connector with the most wires in it, and tucked the other one behind the dash, just snip the ground wire (black), and splice it in to the other ground wires.

Auxilary input. You have to get the harness from ford.

What are the wires on the HU harness? Is there a red and white RCA among the cluster? That would make things easy....or is there a little 1.5mm(like a headphone jack) input among them?

i just saw the auxilary button on my standard cd stock HU today, (don't laugh I just picked the truck up new this morning) If there is an aux. in the back that's a quick n' easy way to hook up my ipod. I'll have to look at it tomorrow.

Anyone w/ stock single disc? Do we have that same aux. harness?

The plug i was refering to was plugged into the factory unit, but now it just hangs there unused. Apparently it is needed for an aftermarket HU. Still don't know what it does or did.

Your 6 Disc HU should have an AUX button. If it does, the extra connector on the back of the HU was for the DVD system.

On the truck's stereo wiring harness, there will also be an unused connector taped to the bundle. Most often, this was for the Audiophile sub-woofer (you'll find the other end of that cable under your seat). I've also found a connector taped to the side of the stereo harness on some trucks for the DVD system.

There will not be any RCA or head phone inputs on the rear of your HU. You can hook up an Ipod to the AUX input using a FRD04-AUX adapter (about $90).
