Illumination Connection

2005 F150 and a Kenwood DPX701

I was told by someone that I could use the illumination wire. Then I was told by another guy that 90% of the time the illumination wire will cause a blown fuse.

Does anyone have a difinitive answer?

Thanks

Tom

I connected the illumination wire and it did nothing. The fuses did not blow and the radio does not dim.

Never heard of the blown fuse thing. I hooked my illumination wire up, but on my HU I have the ability to adjust the dimmer. I can leave the dimmer on (it operates like it normally would), or I can turn it off (it stays bright all the time). I leave mine off because with my sunglasses on I can't see the display.

I connected the illumination (orange right?) and I haven't had any issues.

Sub Burn,

Does the dimmer switch on your dash board dim the radio?

No it only dims when I turn the headlights on and off. I have an in dash dvd with a 7" flip out screen though. It has a sensor on the front with it's own dimmer. Not sure if that makes a difference.

I'm going to check mine out tonight to see if the headlights operate the lights on the radio.

Thanks

If the orange wire is hooked up correctly your head unit should dim when you click the lights on.
