alpine 9856

Hey yall, just installed the new alpine 9856, and i couldnt be happier with it. Its a great unit and it even made my stock speakers sound decent. If youre looking for a relatively cheap unit that you can hook up to your ipod, this is the route i would go!

If you don't need the 3 sets of pre outs, you could go even cheaper with the 9852. I just put one in my daughters Focus with the ipod cable.

Not sure if im gonna add an amp to this setup figured I would be set if I need it without having to splice and dice wires later on. The only bad thing is I picked up the wrong harness connector so back out to the store after dinner. That suks I was hopin to wire everything tonight then slip it in tommorrow oh well. SOSDD

Hey tardman91, does your radio pick up local radio stations pretty good? Seems like mine doesn't want to pick up too good & I'm wondering if I need to change the antenna or something.

Mine picks up local stations a lot better than the stock HU. There are two or three different settings for the tuner. There's regular seek, seek lo? and seek DX. The seek DX is the best because it goes through only the stations that get a signal. Look in your owners manual and see how to switch between them, as I forget. But if that's not your problem then I would make sure all your antenna connections are good.

I guess what I meant to say was that sometimes, the radio stations aren't being received to good & sound kinda staticky if you know what I mean. The weather has been pretty clear here lately so I don't think it's that. For some reason, tonight the stations were coming in pretty good & clear when I went to town.
