CD 6 RDS stops

Just curious. I have an 02 SuperCrew with the CD6 Stereo. The RDS will work for a short time then freeze. It will generally tell you the station call letters and the name/artist of the song and then stop. It will stay on that song forever. It will not refresh unless you do something to make the display change, such as move the volume **** or change stations. I have an 00 Windstar with the same stereo and it changes as the songs change.

My 2005 Non mp3 audiophile (F150) hiccups, doesn't spell correct (i mean really bad spelling), won't change when the song changes etc. etc. etc. It will usually, at some point, tell me roughly who the band and the song is, but it doesn't change as nearly as smooth and as frequent as my wifes 2005 explorer.

Bottom line though: mine still sounds GREAT.

If memory serves me correctly, those early models suffered from numerous display problems. You can do a Google search and find several companies that will refurbish those units with higher quality parts. Some companies charge as little as $80 to service Ford Head Units.

Early or not

It is in an 02, I have a 00 Windstar with the same HU and the RDS works great in it. Is an 02 considered an earlier model?

sounds like something is up with the unit or it could be something with the stations where you live.. My 02 Screw and my wifes 04 mustang both have no problem with the RDS but that is around Dallas, TX which is a big market.

Only thing that kills me is the stations that it tells you the name and like "Todays favorites" will appear but it won't tell me songs.
