Question Cutting plastic brace to install 6 disk stereo

I bought a almost new factory 6 disk stereo from an '03 F-150 and am putting it in my '00 F-150. I took out the factory single disk CD Stereo. The good news is wiring is perfect and everything works great. The bad news is there is a plastic brace of some sort that prevents the unit from sliding all the way in to the dash. Is there any problem with carefully cutting away this bracket with a dremel or saw? It does not appear to really do anything. There is plenty of clearance above the plastic bracket. Should i cut the entire braket away? Thanks for any help that can be offered (and no I do no want a lecture on how I should have bought after market as I got this cheap).

I cut the plastic...

I got out the trusty dremal and carefully (yeah right) cut the plastic piece across the back and a bit up each side on the top. Now the radio fits in nice and tight. All told it took about 3 minutes to cut and put in the radio.
