Question on 2004 6CD Changer HU
OK, I'm probably just confused on these models, but I believe I have the Premium 6CD changer not the Audiophile because I don't have the options like auto preset setting, Ambiance function, etc.
I've tried several MP3 discs (made with Nero) and they don't work. Do both 6CD changers play MP3 files, or only the Audiophile? Is there a good way to tell whether or not a unit is an Audiophile (other than checking for the extra functions)? I'd like to add the ability to play MP3s without buying a super highend HU - I'm also not a huge fan of the single DIN with storage pocket systems.
[Edit:] I've also seen some Mustang HUs on eBay that say they'll fit F-150s (same year of course). Is there anything to look out for with these? (i.e. there is one that says Shaker 500 - ?require special amp?? // are there compatibility problems between 2005 HUs and my 2004 truck?)

No, not all the CD changers play MP3's. If the CD changer plays MP3s, it will have MP3 stamped by the CD loading gate.
There are a few after market double-DIN MP3 Head Units on the market.
There are several different cable/connector differences among the different 6 CD units. You may want to see which connectors you have, and compare them to the head units you want to buy.
