You're absolutely right, there are more for other reasons, because other things are more dominant than in dash screens. The most recent one I saw was a twenty year old who smashed into the gaurd rail because he was distracted by the guy next to him's underbody neons. That cannot be your only argument for the case. Hell I've seen kids in low speed collisions because they were looking at the other vehicles "rims".

Once again, as far as I understand you want OTHER people in the vehicle to enjoy it so I am completely on your side and I apologize if it seemed as a personal attack against you. I want others to realize that every thing you add, adds risk to yourself and fellow drivers. Maybe now that'll clarify what I'm getting at. It's a safety risk if YOU are looking at it. And if it's not for the driver then I applaud you on your decision. But back to my original statement, no Navigation system will distract an ADD laden teen looking over at your car without his meds like a playing movie would. And when you get your player installed I hope you love it. I think this post sums up my position better than before. I was just trying to convey my own and hopefully explain what others were saying with alot less hostility.

No blood, no foul. I know, poor choice of cliche. I do understand your point of view and I hope me being firm about my opinion hasn't in any made you feel as I didn't care about your opinion as that isn't the case. Me having a teenage daughter driving to school every day has itself taught me to reitterate unscrupulously to her how much a responsibility it is to drive a 3000 pound car. She knows that a vehicle used irresponsibly can kill, and not just her, others. But many parents could care less how their kids drive. I teach her not to touch the radio unless the vehicle is stopped. How many parents do you know of that say that to their kids? Not enough. Driving is a liberty, not a necessity for a teenager.

I do understand others around me can be distracted with my vehicle, irregardless of what is inside. Most people don't even know a vehicle is beside them due to tunnel vision. Yes some look over to check out whatever. That can happen with or without a dvd player in the dash. I could explain, but you know what I mean.

It's up to the individual to be responsible enough for their own surroundings. I would never intentionally distract myself while driving. I cannot help what others do with their own distractions.

Texas - there is no warning whatsoever when I turn on the unit. There was a sticker on the screen when I first got the unit but I forgot what it said. I never use my DVD player that much, NEVER in town, on the highway occasionally, and especialy when I'm "parked"
