Question Factory HU: Aux Input??

OK.. So I had my factory HU out this weekend, and noticed that there is no aux input (unless I'm missing something), but I have the aux button. I want to get the PIE adapter, but now I'm not sure there is anywhere to plug it in?

I have two factory harnesses back there. The big one, and a small one.. Could the small one be it?

I believe that the small one is the CANBus port, which is how you plug in the PIE and cell phone handsfree setups into our radios.

So if there is something plugged into it, what would it be? DVD kit? I didn't think I had that..

If your truck came with a DVD unit, then it will be plugged into it. On the other hand, many of us didn't have anything plugged into it to be begin with. The CANBus interface is for plugging in cellphone handsfree kits, PIE, Factory DVD, etc.

Oddly enough, I don't have DVD player or overhead... but something's plugged in anyway. Maybe I have the dvd wiring kit.. which I know is an option (I don't have my original window sticker yet, so I don't know )

Try this URL. I think it can provide the answer to most of your questions. I was considering one of these for my XLT but upgraded to a Pioneer HU and XM receiver instead. However, I have ordered one of them for my son's Freestyle.

As I view the diagrams for the PIE adapter, is it that there is a pass through for the factory rse connector?

I do not THINK so but I am not sure. As I understand the directions, you have to give up whatever accessories are controlled through the IP-BUS. There is a pass through or some sort of connection for an IPod.

Call or email tech support at PIE as they were very helpful when I was trying to decide what to get and what would work. They answered all of my questions promptly and accurately.
