2005 6CD MP3 Help

I just bought a 2005 F150screw with the Audiophile In-Dash 6-Disc CD Changer w/Audiophile & MP3 Capability (Includes Subwoofer & Speed Compensated Volume Control). I burned a mp3 cd using Roxio and it works on my other mp3 player but not my trucks. Any tricks to burning? Should the unit say CD/MP3 on it. Mine does not,did I somehow get the 04 CD model.

Any help
Thanks

This is my second new screw old one 2001 Lariat

05 Screw Lariat Dark Stone,Two tone biege,Sensing,Power and heated front seats, Power sunroof,Power sliding rear window,Homelink,Captains chairs,Towing and Audiophile

The HU should say "CD-6" on top of the loading slot and "MP3" under the slot.

The 04 Audiophile HU was not MP3 compatable. It seems remaining stocks of the 04 model were used until they were exhausted. Some 6CD HU's are listed as "04 F-150 New Style, 05 F-150".

Tricks for burning... I prefer NERO, but Roxio works just fine. For best results, burn the CD at the slowest possible speed. Not all burners are equal. Some produce better quality CDs than others. Now and again, you may encounter a compatability problem with a CD player and the brand of CD-R or the burner used to make the disc.

My 05 Lariat Super Crew came with the wrong head unit,my window sticker said mp3 & audiophile but no mp3 on the unit it's self,so I took it back to the dealership and they installed the correct unit, I usually use Nero to burn ny discs I have the best luck burning them as a data cd instead of a mp3 music cd

try burning your mp3's at 4x speed next time. That cured my problem with the head-unit not playing burned stuff.

Smile thanks

Thanks for the info I thought maybe they had change the CD model late in the 05 year just wasn't sure.

Spoke to the out of state dealer, bought it off net they said go to local dealer and have it replace under warranty. Local dealer wanted 468.80 to replace. Called out of state dealer gave them the phone number of local dealer, got a call back from local dealer saying the CD/MP3 will be here mid next week for swap at no charge. I'd like to see someone get service like that from GM.

Good to see everything worked out for you. I just purchased a new take out 06 6 disc MP3 unit for my 05. I love the HU. The only mod I had to do was for the antenna.

Hey MoJoe,

Could you elaborate on this a bit? Are the 06 units differant than the 05's?

Thanks!

No problem, I wish I had pics, but I always can remove it later if needed for anyone. I bought this one off eBay. It was a new OEM takeout from an 06 Explorer. I wanted it since it had 6 disc, MP3 and has a play/pause button which is great. The antenna fitting is like that of a XM or Sirius unit. It does not accept the old style connectors that we have now. All I did was take some antenna wire, and soldered the connectors together on the HU and the truck antenna wire. It uses the same wire as the old style, just a new connector, so it was that easy. I hope that is what you were looking for. Sorry I do not know the technical name of the new antenna fitting.
