04 f150 head unit swap
with an 05 cd 6 audiophile. What all details do i need to pull the switch and is it plug and play. I tried the search function, couldnt find everything i wanted. Also , how hard would it be to wire a sub and some new speakers in the door with the stock unit? :santa:
It's a plug and play deal. If you want to use the sub-out from the Audiophile, you'll need the connector from Ford that plugs in the radio. You can search for it or check this thread for more details: https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=205463
New speakers in the door are a piece of cake. For the fronts, it's just a matter of popping the grill off of the door panel, 4 screws and the old ones are history. Buy your new ones from a place that gives you the speaker connectors so you won't have to cut your harness, plug the new ones in and enjoy. (A little tip: You can make your own adaptors by ripping the connectors off your stock speakers, and soldering your own leads on. Granted, that will destroy the factory speakers, but unless you plan on putting them back in someday, it's no biggie.)
To replace the rears, ya gotta pull the entire door panel off. (Thanks Ford!) It's not tough, just time consuming. You can search for those instructions also. I know I've seen detailed posts on that one. Maybe sometime in the year 2015, automakers will realize that a lot of end users replace crappy stock speakers, and they'll make it an easier proposition. We can always hope anyway...
