Exclamation Dammit, What's this iEQ

Okay, so I was reading another post. And a User said that the iEQ (Intelligent equalizer) Doesn't allow you to set your own Bass/Treble/Fader/Balance. Is this true?

Because if so, most of the cd/mp3 players out there have this new iEQ thing....

I don't want to select from a list of " Rock, Pop, Jazz, Classical etc. " Like you do those new table top stereo's.

Could someone explain who knows more about this new iEQ stuff?

I am seriously looking for a new headunit. But it seems they keep coming out with these new things before I have a chance to find out what they are.

Much thanks in advance.

Wish I could give you more information, but my Kenwood is a few years old. What I do know is that it does have the presets (i.e. Rock, Jazz, Flat, etc.) but also has a user defined preset. In User, I can set Bass, Mid, and Treble each between +8 and -8.

I'm not real familiar with any new units as I haven't been shopping around for one. An alternative which you may or may not be familiar with is an external graphic equalizer which allows more frequency customization. Maybe someone can weigh in one those.
