I need help to determine whether or not I should bypass the factory amp that is in my '98 Exp.

Currently I have the factory headunit installed and the sound system is labeled as premium on the speakers. There must be two different premium systems because some things that I have read mention a sub woofer. I do not have a sub woofer installed with the factory system.

My problem is this: If I install the Kenwood DDX 7015 HU do I need to bypass the amp that is in there now? The Ford dealer says that the amp can handle the high output from the new HU but some car installation places tell me the new HU will burn the amp out because it is high output compared to the low output from the factory HU.

HELP!!!!

 

hey this process is a pain in the *** just go pay 100 bucks to have it bypassed

 

Thanks for the input. I did bypass the AMP after all but I did it myself. It wasn't to bad to do. The biggest pain was getting the stuff out of the way to get to the AMP. In the Expedition it's located just in front of the floor console, so all of that had to come out.
