Limey needs help?

I have a 2004 Lariat with an Audiphile system. The system went haywire and would keep changning modes while driving. I couldn't take the unit back to a dealer, because my warranty doesn't apply outside the USA/Can.

I managed to buy a new F150 MP3/CD unit on E-bay (USA), but being a basic unit, it doesn't allow me to plug in the sub woofer.

The back of the original unit has three sockets, but the replacement unit only has two, so I've lost my sub.

My questions are:

Can I get a Pioneer or Alpine MP3/CD unit that will have the same sockets as the original HU?

Or is there a plug converter kit that will change the priginal speaker/remote/sub plugs to make them compatible with a normal radio with normal DIN sockets?

Has anyone done this?

Im interested to to know what the Second Plug on the back of the HU is for? Do you have controls on the Steering Wheel? I have an 04 SCrew XLT. My HU has 2 plugs on the back but only one of them is being used. Just wondering if you know what the second is used for.

Hi pojay,

The original audiophile HU had three plugs. one for power/speakers, one for controls on steering wheel and one for sub woofer.

I now have a new 05 unit, which takes CD/MP3 and stacks 6 cd's in the system. It only has 2 plugs for the speakers/power and the steering wheel controls.

As I can't use the sub woofer, I'll be selling this for $250 including shipping, if anyone is interested.
