Angry Stock unit CD HOT

I cannot even listen to a whole cd before my head unit stops playing and says CD HOT, and I have to shut the truck off and wait a half hour before being able to listen to the second half of my CD. Can someone help me???

Some stock units have a built in fan. Yours may have failed and is causing it to overheat. If you are handy with electronics then you could tear it down and replace the fan if such is the case...or just replace the whole unit.

I'd probably replace it

If you don't feel like trying to fix it you can get a good aftermarket HU cheap nowdays or a stock unit on ebay Really cheap.

If that's what you want to do. Look at crutchfield.com for a few ideas on where to begin

same thing happened in my 2000 xlt..i had to take it to the dealership and they modded it by adding an internal fan and it worked flawless after that.
