Angry wiring

Hi gents, I've done my searching. I have an old alpine unit "1997 I believe, I purchase a metra 80-1771 to plug into my factory wiring harness. I spliced the ground (black) wires, the yellow (to battery wires), and the red (ignition on) wires together. Not getting any power to the HU, am I splicing the wrong colors together? I have a 2000 F-150 lariat ext cab. I have went to the install doctor, I think I may be splicing the wrong wires????? Looking for some help. Thanks in advance, Dutch.

Black, yellow and red, those are the only wires you need for power, so that is right. Double check the splices, make sure they are nice and snug and spliced good. Did you hit the power button? I know it sounds stupid, but when you put in a radio, or if it loses total power at anytime, it wont automaticaly turn on like when you turn the key on, you gotta hit the power button. Just something to look at. I did it once or twice when i was drunk
Beer and electronics dont mix

Possitive the HU works??
