12.99 too much for a daily driver?

What do you guys think? Is it possible to get our trucks to the 12s and still retain some of our daily driver capabilites?
What do some of you more experienced guys think the quickest/easiest set of mods will get you to 12.99 is from stock?

If I am to make the L as a basis for this, they have been running 12.xxs and some of them are daily drivers and some trucks have passed the 60K and even 75K miles so far. I too would like my truck to run high 12s. I think it shouldn't be problem as long as the mods are done right.
Drive my Lightning on weekends, to cruise-ins, shows, to the track where it runs 12.48 @112.6, and prowl the streets looking for unsuspecting victims. And occasionally to work. Average 15-16 mpg.
Run a 6# lower pulley, Air Force 1 filter kit, Metco upper drag links,
line mod valve, my pinion snubber, and Mike Troyers Superchip program. All this in a full weight truck with my fat @ss in it it weighs over 4700 pounds on the track scales.
So, I would say yes you can make 12.99 and still drive it on the streets very comfortably.

i think cobra's truck is a daily driver. or at least somewhat of one. drives to the track, runs it on stock tires and hits 12.7's, and drives home
i think its pretty possible. good luck getting there though!

I am shooting for 12.99 with no juice. Considering we are 700 or so pounds heavier, figure 7/10ths slower than an L with the same horsepower, you would be comparing a 12.2xx or 12.3xx L that is daily driven. I think it is totally possible with a 6lb lower and a LOT of bolt ons (no juice). It is going to be tough, but I think it can be done.
I am working on dropping some weight from the truck to help. I am starting with rims... check these out:
They are 20x9.5s about 20lbs less than stock HD rims and to me, they are awesome. (I know, Harley, don't do it
) With the 9.5 width, I will feel a little better mounting the 295/40/20s on it since they call for a 10". That with a slightly lighter tire (295's are about 6 or 7 lbs less), I will shed 100lbs and have a badass looking turck.
Last, but not least, I am ordering some hoosier slicks and a cheap, lightweight rim to run at the track. This should surely net me a better 60' which will get me close to that magical 12 without gas.

Ken,
Those wheels look sweet. Yeah, Josh we know you won't like them
. Get the smooth lip option if they offer it. It will make the wheel look much bigger. Good luck keeping the shine on billet wheels...

hey hey guys, don't be so quick to say what i'm gonna say
i recognized those rims before you even posted what they were.
look familiar anybody?

I didn't really like those rims when i 1st saw pics of them on rob's truck a while ago, but i have to admit, they are MUCH MUCH cooler in person! It'll look great. definately post pics if you get them. Just save your stock rims, incase you do ever decide to sell the HD, the truck will be worth more.
I still like the stock rims better, but at least ya made a good choice. LoL

I am also interested in bringing my future truck into the 12's but it is a daily driver. I also prefer keeping the HD rims on the HD.
Also Ken...you might need gas to run those times
